Hunter Mountain Ski Area

Winter at the Hunter Inn is a special time of year, largely because of all the superb skiing facilities available in the neighborhood. Hunter Mountain—which has been called “The Snow-Making Capitol of the World—is less than a mile from our Inn. The mountaintop is 3,200 feet high, the vertical drop is 1,600 feet and there are 11 lifts that service the 53 trails. The facility has more than 1,100 snow guns that can produce 40 tons of snow per minute.

Less than seven miles away is Windham Mountain ski area, which consists of two mountain peaks, the highest of which is 3,100 feet. The 39 trails range in length from 300 feet to more than 2 miles and are serviced by seven lifts that cover the 1,600 feet vertical drop. Six of the trails are used for night skiing and snowboarding.

Snowtubing is also available at both mountains and snowshoeing is an option at Hunter Mountain. There are also many places to cross-country ski, such as the Mountain Trails Cross Country Ski Center in Tannersville, which is only minutes away. The Center has 35 kilometers of trails—most of which were once logging roads—spread out over 300 acres of virgin land.
